About us

The Serbian Cultural Association "Pontes-Mostovi" is among the oldest in Italy: the association was officially founded on May 8th 2008 but its origins are rooted in the Serbian community, which was one of the largest in Trieste for centuries. It was founded and kept expanding around the orthodox church and the temple of Saint Spiridon, a landmark for the Serbian diaspora for a long time.

The main goal of the Association is the preservation of the language, the tradition, the culture, the folklore and the identity of a nation in a new environment, far from their roots.

The Association brings together individuals and families of Serbian origin and contributes to strengthening the local community, especially thanks to the constant involvment of volunteers and the enthusiasm young people bring.

It standed out because of the quality of the artistic programme and the dedication in passing on the cultural values to the younger generations. In just a few years, it successfully raised its work to the level of other cultural associations in Europe, winning the silver plaque at the 22nd European Festival of Serbian Diaspora Folklore, held in Portorož in 2017.
